Since Meredith’s resume does not follow a traditional career path, you may have burning questions.
Where did Meredith get her degree?
Texas Tech University. A proud Red Raider, Meredith earned a B.A. in Russian Language with a minor in Linguistics in 2004. They did not, at that time, have a web design degree.
What extra curricular activities helped bolster Meredith’s skill set?
Meredith was deeply invested in her Russian degree (she thought she would be Christian Amanpour), and spent her free time as head of the Russian Honors Society, a student reporter for The Daily Toreador, and a DJ and webmaster for KTXT 88.1 FM, Red Raider Radio.
Why did Meredith sell her business?
Meredith endured a difficult pregnancy, and made the hard decision to step away from her beloved perfumery. She was overjoyed when the new owners reached out to her directly with an offer. It was not about the money, but about the legacy.
What was Meredith’s first job interview?
Meredith first interviewed at Bungie, before they were a part of Microsoft. She remembers having to write an HTML page on a dry erase board. She was in the top two candidates for that role, but ultimately did not get the job. In the end, she wound up at KEXP 90.3 FM. So it all worked out.
How did she learn to build websites?
Meredith built her first website in 1997 on the high school server as part of a computer science class, and was hooked, ever since.
How has Meredith kept up with her skills in recent years?
Apart from on the job training, Meredith enjoys volunteering for local non profit organizations in a marketing and social media capacity.
Where does Meredith see herself in five years?
Meredith has no ego in regards to her role on a team. No desire to be Director of Content. No grasping for a title bump. She wants to work on websites that matter, with people who care. That’s it. That’s the post.
What was Meredith’s first website?
Meredith first built a website for trading zines! She discovered zines in the early aughts in the offline world, and then LiveJournal communities. She built a GeoCities website to showcase her collection and trade with forum friends.
