Meredith Smith is a writer and musician from Seattle, WA. A creative writing MFA dropout, Meredith has very few credentials as either of those things. In spite of that, her work has appeared in literary journals, arts magazines, and been heard on the radio. Her latest EP, More than a Dream, is of some demand.

Meredith’s writing background began in her days in the high school media trenches as editor of the high school paper, and worked in student media until her first post-college media job landed her in Seattle. She is every character from the Gilmore Girls. If you know, you know.

Originally from West Texas, Meredith first began playing music in punk bands as a drummer for a small three-piece. They eventually added a fourth, and eventually disbanded. Eventually eventually several bands later led her to her own three-piece riot grrl band (it was 2002) with friends from the college radio station. They played shows with Kill Rock Stars bands that came through on their way out of Texas from South by Southwest. A perennial late-bloomer, t was around then that she watched Hype for the first time.

These days, you can find her playing shows with her live band, and working on new work. Honestly, not much has changed. Her sound feels like a time capsule of 2002 with new faces and new energy in the mix. Her old work has been published in Voices of Tacoma, The Cryptonaturalist, Cowboy Jamboree, and elsewhere. Sometimes, she still plays the occasional open mic to remind herself why she lets the guys play guitar and she sticks to bass.

Elsewhere, she’s an ecommerce project manager by day and mom to guitar-playing and Undertale-obsessed Charlotte.

Stay tuned to find out what’s next.
